Physiotherapist: Go See One
Let me make a bold statement. No one reading this article is free from some kind of pain.
Physical pain of some kind.
It could be a joint pain, a shoulder that does not rotate, a muscle in the thigh, or a back that hurts. It may be obvious or less than.
But we all suffer from some kind of physical pain.
So, then, how come we don’t frequent a physiotherapist?
In one of the strangest insights into our behavior, I realised that very few of us go to a physiotherapist. We go to our doctor; we go to the orthopedic. We might even see a surgeon for our back.
But for some strange reason, many don’t go to a physiotherapist.
Here is what I recommend. Go see one, at least once a month if not more. When they work on your body, you will discover pain that you didn’t know existed.
We are stiffer and more wound up physically than we are aware of. The body compensates easily. Often without you noticing.
If you ever injured yourself knowingly or unkwoningly, it left scars on your fascia, muscle and tissue. The injuries do not just go away on their own.
These injuries then cause a secondary injury. Another body part that was strained because your body had to compensate.
So where does the physiotherapist fit in?
A good one is an expert at first identification of what is wrong. Once done, they can break the tissue in that area through a myofascial or remedial massage.
If you have never been through one, they are painful as hell. Often the physio will use his or her elbow to get deep into the tissue.
But once they are done, you can feel freedom of movement that you may not have felt in years.
A good physio is like the secret you dont want to tell others. In this case, find yourself a good one and tell the world. They will thank you for it.
